For example, his proposal to eliminate the business rent tax will make Florida more competitive for businesses, which in turn will strengthen our state’s economy and benefit everyone. By reducing overall spending while prioritizing key investments, this budget will ensure continued economic opportunity for all Floridians. We also applaud the Governor for prioritizing pay increases for first responders rather than yielding to misguided calls to reinstate an automatic cost-of-living adjustment for all Florida Retirement System employees. Additionally, by strengthening reserves and paying down state debt, this budget reinforces Florida’s leadership in providing responsible governance.
